Bladder Cancer
My name is Laura, and I am actually writing in reference to my Great Aunt. She is 95 and was just diagnosed with bladder cancer. She has decided to refuse all treatment (she currently resides in a nursing home in a very small town and does not want the discomfort, inconvenience and invasiveness that would go along with travel to a larger town more than an hour’s drive away for medical attention). I am wondering what she, and those around her, can expect as a consequence of this decision. I would not dream of trying to tell her to change her mind – nor would my mother. We just want to know how drawn out this is going to be, how painful to experience and watch and how debilitation will develop and progress. Any thoughts and information regarding what happens when you decide not to treat this disease would be greatly appreciated.
