Hi Charlotte,
I just found this web sight, and was very interested to read about your experiences. I will be having my bladder removed and a neobladder installed shortly. I am 50. I am also having chemotherapy now--they want to do 4 chemos every 21 days (cysplatin and gensar). I have just had my 2nd treatment, and it is killing me. I am seriously considering not having the final two treatments, and just doing the surgery. When you start your chemo, let me know how you are doing. I want to be around for my children and grandchildren, also, so maybe I'll keep going. Good luck---Colleen - Colleen

HI Charlotte. I am two years out with Stage T3a high grade invasive bladder cancer, diagnosed at age 40, May 2006. I had cystectomy and neobladder, no chemo. It's a rough road to travel, but it can surely be done and life can be really pretty great afterwards. Take one day at a time, build up your immune system and most importantly keep up with your doctor visits -- all the small steps add up. Best wishes to you. Feel free to email me any time. :)

Hello

I was 49 when my bladder cancer was found. Blood in urine also. I now have a neobladder going on 15 months. I received chemo after I healed from surgery. Chemo is differant for everyone but just make sure you get 2 consultations. There are differant drug regiments you can go through so ask about all possible treatments. My drugs were cisplatin and gemcitabine. With all the anti nausea drugs some people do very well. Have faith. - Rick Luther
