Path report came back today "benign"...

:'(My last conversation with my doc, as he is leaving to go to another group in another city :'(

He said, "Don't let recurrances get you down"....

and also, "You can do all the wrong things and the cancer won't come back, or you can do all the right things and it will come back..it's just the nature of the beast"...

For the time being I'm sticking to my protocol...

3 more BCG's in

The biopsy is over.  The worst part being the 2 1/2 hour holding time lying in bed with a needle in your arm and being hungry.

I was only under heavy sedation, not anesthesia or epidural,  and I believe that I talked through the surgery, or at least part of it.  Hope I was nice, whatever I said.

The doc said everything looked good.  He cauterized the site and took a sample of the healthy part of my bladder too, for path comparison.

Now we are waiting for the results on Tuesday.

Thanks for the support from all you great people...

Thanks to you both.  You are both in my thoughts as well....let's hang in there together!!

My story of Bladder Cancer

I'm going for biopsy # 3 tomorrow.

The doc called tonight to see if I were jittery or had any questions.

I asked him if he would be giving me the mitomycin if he didn't see anything in there, and at first he asked me if I wanted him to give it (?) but before I could answer, he said, "that's a good question." and then he started talking and said "only if there were residual", but if he didn't see anything, then "no" he wouldn't give it...

I asked if he were going to do a quick path on the specimen, and he said "no"
because you get a better grade of specimen without the quick freeze...

So, I will

I had my 3 month cystoscopy this afternoon.  The doc said, "Your bladder looks great"

He also did a MP22 (???) analysis of my urine and he warned  that sometimes it gives false positives (so beware), but if it's negative, then negative means negative.

It was negative.

He wants to do a biopsy next week (#3) in order to document the histological response to BCG's....I said how do they document a response....he said it's by what they don't see...

He also said, "keep doing what you're doing" .  I haven't really told him my personal protocol, but if he asks I will tell him...

Good news

My story of Bladder Cancer

I've posted bits and pieces of "My Story" around the story board, but am home today after a colonoscopy, which went pretty well, so I thought I would add my story here, as it is sometimes interesting to discuss variables about our disease and treatment amongst ourselves...

First off, I believe that I've had this disease a while.  About 8 yrs ago, my toilet was full of blood....I went to Doc who sent me to Uro who catherized me and said, "It's not your bladder"

So, when I went for yearly pap this past December, my Gyno said, "You have blood in your urine, I'm sending you to Uro", I said, "I've

I appreciate your reply...

6 Months Old?????

You took the words right out of my Doctor's mouth!!!

Had a BCG today, and the doc and I had a long talk.  He said, "These are just the cards you are dealt"...

Thank you so much for your reply....

:oI was just wondering who else out there is very low risk for having ever even gotten this cancer...(BUT HAVE IT ANYWAY).

I mean how low risk can you get...

Female
Non smoking
Never worked around textiles or cleaning agents..
Don't even eat meat (especially not cured meat)
54 years old.

I  have two aunts.  One is 90 and she still smokes a pack a day.  SHE doesn't have bladder cancer.

My other aunt owned a cleaner's for 50 years.  She passed recentlyat 86,  but NOT of bladder cancer.

Is anyone else baffled by this?  My Doc doesn't even want to discuss it... it's like..."You got it, now let's deal
