Bladder Cancer Treatment Guide for Patients.

I have created a flow chart for bladder cancer patients.  It can pretty much be used at any time from initial concern about the potential of having bladder cancer through various stages of treatment.

 My hope is that people will find this useful.  Rather than posting it everywhere and having to try to maintain version control on a number of sites, I am putting the link to ABLCS forum where I originally posted it.

I am not a doctor but I do have a good bit of experience as a bladder cancer patient.  This guide has been reviewed by a number of other bladder cancer survivors as well.

Stage 3 T4a No

I was diagonosed with BC on Sept.23,2005 which made me a 47 year old female.  The Dr. that diagonosed me told me I was not a canidate for a neobladder.  He told me I would have to get a stoma or bag due to my situation.  I had around a 4cm sized tumor that was transitional cell which had gone through my bladder wall which made me a Stage 3 T4a No.  I had been c/o of frequent urination to my gyno and family Dr. for months.  I also had irregular periods and had developed high BP.  My Dr.'s nevered worked me up.  They all blamed it on menapause.  Unfortunately, I was the one that found myself

Atyp Bladder/Vaginal Clear Cell Cancer cT4N2M0

Update - 4/13/06

1) got the final path reports back... a total of 6 lymph nodes were metastasized, 4 microscopically, out of the 25 resected from the pelvic and abdominal areas.  all margins were good.

2) A FDG-PET scan is slated for next week, and if that is clear, then chemo (Taxol and CarboPlatin) will commence for 6 3 week cycles, and if that goes well, then 5 weeks of radiation therapy on the remaining lymph nodes in the groin and pelvis.

3) while the bladder was the primary impacted organ, they've classified this as mullerian (gynecological) in histology.  

Otherwise, she's doing well.

Atyp Bladder/Vaginal Clear Cell Cancer cT4N2M0

My wife (45 year old F, 3 children vaginally delivered, last in 1988, 2003 Hysterectomy for prolapsed uterus, fibroids and dysplasia)  was diagnosed last week with an approx 3cm tumor that through biospy as a Clear Cell Carcinoma of the bladder and now invaded the vagina.   Painful, frequent and low volume urination was the only symptom, onset 6 months ago, and she spent 3 months eliminating all other conditions.   No other symptoms were diagnosed.  CT scan and chest Xray are negative for nodal and metastaces.

Location is under the trigon area with some indication of urethreal penetration.
