Invasive bladder cancer

11/3/05 Just had my second 3month check up with CT scan and cystoscopy. No sign of cancer in my bladder or nearby areas. It hasn't been fun but for me, this was the right decision.

5/2/05 My oncologist said I no longer needed chemotherapy and my urologist reported a clean bladder for the second time. Periodic tests to follow but YIPEE!

After hearing all the "and by the ways" of surgery, I decided I had a great life and would finally retire, kiss my lover goodby and move on. Surgery was not an option for me.

Luckily I was put in touch with Dr Schao and Dr Patton at NW

Invasive Bladder Cancer

Well I had my surgery on 12-17-04, what a mess. First they nicked an artery, and i had to have 8 units of blood. After I got out of ICU, and into a regular room, My central line was infected and my temp went up to almost 105, talking out of my head and everything else. Got that under control, then my incission tore on the inside and they had to go back in and repair that. I was in the hospital from 12-16 to 01-02-05. Should have listened to the many who recommended going to a large facility, such as duke, cleveland clinic ect. The good news is that the cancer was

Bladder cancer. No real details provided

My dad, Irv, began peeing blood during Memorial Day weekend, 2004. He contacted and saw his physician the next week and was prescribed antibiotics to combat a presumed urinary tract/bladder infection. When this did not resolve through the course of antibiotics he was referred to a urologist. He scheduled an examination of the bladder through a tube inserted into the penis (name?) and, if evidence proved it necessary, a "shaving" and removal of any identified tumors. Found tumor and removed, biopsy (after several days) identified as malignant but

had a small tumor removed in Nov. 03, followed with BCG treatment; 3 months after that 2nd tumor appeared; same removel and treatment. First was Grade 1; second was Grade 2. Then in April of 04 a 3rd was removed--grade 3, but no treatment. Dr. wanted to wait 3 months to see if it reappeared then would remove it and treat with BCG again. Sought second opinion at U. of Chicago and one week later was in possession of a neobladder. Contrary to what the first Dr. thought, the tumor was into the muscle of the bladder, but not into the fatty tissues around it. My bladder was removed

Bladder Cancer

my mom was just diagnosed. She had her surgery on Thursday Sept 2. All went well. She had her bladder, ovaries, appendix & lymph nodes removed. They made her a bladder out of her colon/large intestine. That is why she needed the appendix out, because that is where the new bladder goes. She has a "nipple" type thing sticking out of her lower abdomen, near belly button that she will put a straw into and drain 3-4 times a day. Doctor will find out tomorrow if the ovaries/lymph nodes were cancer. Told us, they didn't look like it when he did the surgery. Mom is very depressed, but

Bladder cancer, tumor removed. Cancer is agressive and is in the walls of the bladder. May have spread to lymph nodes.

Found out a little over a week that my Dad has bladder cancer. He is 63 and other than the cancer is in fantastic physical shape. He has exercised and watched his diet all his life. He did smoke when he was in his 20s. He was having some back pain that would not go away, he went to the doctor and they thought it may be a kidney stone. He became more ill, weakness, vomiting, fevers. Eventually, the urologist saw a tumor and they removed it . The analysis showed that it was

My father went to a urologist in his hometown area Burlington,NC (04/02). He had issues with blood in his urine and mild pain when urinating. After several minor surgery's from the Burlington doctor to remove the cancer cells from his bladder we finally convinced him to go to another doctor. We got him to the urology center at Duke University ( top hospital). He was assigned to a well known doctor Dr. Albala. The doctor did a biopsy on my Dad and found no sign of cancer. He was told to come back in six months for a follow-up. The follow-up came quick (03/04)

April 2nd 2008

I have been quite fortunate up to this point. I had a 15% survival chance of being here in 5 years from the date of my Radical Cystectomy in August 2003. All of my scans have come back clear, my last scan was in October 2007. The last couple of months I started to feel some discomfort in my perinial area and some discharge coming from my penis. So last month I made an appointment with my urologist and described the pain

Bladder Cancer

It's been a while since I've posted to the cafe...just didn't seem as if I had much to offer. It was quite a shock seeing the tumor at my five year clear cysto..not at all what I wanted, by the way. And now to have another one is almost unbelievable. Here is a short history.

Cysto’s every three months for two years, and every six months until year 5.
