Stage II bladder cancer

Found out today tumor went from stage 2 to 3 and is in the bladder wall. Uro said bladder must go. Scheduled for surgery Wednesday, Sept.8. Will have a bag because of Dad's age, health,etc.Very disappointed because we thought the mitomycin was working. Anyway, we are blessed that we even have a choice to remove an organ - many people don't have that choice. My dad's biggest question right now is will he be able to sleep on his right side. If anyone has any tips for us after this surgery, please let us know. We are scared and don't know what to

Today I have joined the List of Bladder Cancer Cafe Members , after having e-mailed for advice from Wendy Sheridan and was greatly enlightened by her as she answered my questions graciously and profoundly !

Wendy suggested that I join this forum to learn and share information about the Cancer battles that are being fought and to share a little info about myself !

Hi Im Bob ima 49 year old man usually very healthy, have to say i did smoke about 30 a day till i was told i have bladder cancer.
I started in mid Feb this year i passes blood in my urine lots i would have to say, i went within a few days to the doc who sent me to see a uroligist did test looked up inside my bladder nothing! so was happy, untill that is i got a call from his office saying that they found abnormal cells in a urine test i did when i had the cysto done.

Bladder Cancer/Invasive/High Grade

Update...6-20-04
My dad had his surgery this past Wednesday...They took the bladder, pelvic lymph nodes, and prostate. Everything looked good, but they still have to test it. His surgery was almost 7 hours long! He has been given morphine, and it made him hallucinate and act aggressive! He is now on atavan for anxiety, and a drug called dialadin (sp?) We are happy that we have our dad here on Father's Day, but he is still in the hospital 5 days after his surgery. I think it will be a long recovery...

Bladder Cancer, Invasive, High Grade

My dad just told us he has bladder cancer. It is invasive & high grade, and is inside the wall of his bladder. Doctors say only option now, (he's almost 80) is radical cysectomy, then later possible chemo. or radiation. He is scared...Can't decide, but needs to. papillary tumor - carcinoma stage 2

August 2004 - Finished 6 weeks of BCG in June. Have another cystoscopy on August 30th, and maintenance treatment in the fall. I am hoping for a clean scope.

bladder cancer, urothelial cells, stage T1 with invasion to lamina propria, grade II

Bladder cancer brought on by antirejection drugs following 2 transplants.

My father has dealt with serious health problems for longer than I've been alive. The first problem was Type 1 diabetes, but the beginning of this story is kidney failure in the early 90s, along with a myriad of other issues, CMV, P-ANCA, misdiagnoses, etc. He underwent the first transplant in 1997.
