Hi,

My name is Susan, i'm 50 yrs old.

6 months ago I had a Neurourectomy following that 6 wks ago I had my first Turb. The result of this was they removed another 17 tiny tumors.

Next wk I am starting a 6 week course of BCG. I have researched as much as the next person on my diagnosis but I have yet to meet anyone who has been diagnosed with something similar, and would appreciate any comments or advice as I am (to be brutally honest) absolutely terrified!

Thanx < [...]

Just dropped in for an update. Had another cystoscopy performed in February and all is well with no signs of recurrence. Next check 12 months. I trust everyone is making progress with their disease and is on the improve.

Married my daughter off on Friday and what a proud father I am.

On the downside my 80yo father in law has just been diagnosed with lung cancer with multiple secondaries and the prognosis is grim.

01-29-08 Results of recent CT Scans

I talked to my nurse on the phone, not so good a way to get results. I think I'll call back and ask to pick up a copy of the report today. I did hear that my largest liver lesion had grown from 4.0 to 4.9 CM since November. And it sounds as if I have more lung nodules than before. I am confused about what to do now. My urologist wants to do cystoscopy on TH and I am also scheduled to see my medical oncologist that day. One thing has to b [...]

Part IV

My urologist returned in January. He was unaware of what had happened until I spoke to him. His response was that he was not concerned about the stricture. "The important thing was to be sure that there was no cancer." I fully understood his focus on the cancer but was unhappy that that focus appeared to be distracting him from dealing with a problem that made me miserable and which I wanted to be sure would not recur. I answered, "I'm glad you& [...]

Part III

When you learn that you have cancer, it changes you for ever. Every clean bill of health is a celebration, and an invitation to go back to living, but... waiting once more for the ticking time bomb, waiting for the other shoe to drop. And then, there are complications of treatment that never let you forget.
I thought that my bladder cancer was the worst thing that ever happened to me, but I was wrong. Two years ago, just after my mother's 83 birthday, s [...]

Part II

I took my catheter out and prepared to enjoy my recovery with all my problems behind me. I had my first Christmas celebration with gifts and stockings since my daughter's boyfriend wasn't Jewish and the kids wanted to do it. Of course, we threw a little Hanukkah Gelt into the stockings to make it ecumenical. The hooks for the stockings are still screwed into the mantle. Then we went out to the movies. I almost drove us into some wrong way traffic - maybe s [...]

Part I

My story begins 8 years before I had bladder cancer. I started having annoying symptoms: needing to urinate more frequently and having these twinges that felt like when you gotta go, but only lasting a second. I'm a pediatrician, not especially knowledgeable about bladder cancer since it's just not seen in kids... and even now, after having had bladder cancer, from reading the posts on this forum it's quite clear there are lots of f [...]

:-[ A little anxious again this way. I had a Cystoscopy yesterday and even I could see the inflamation that was on the bladder wall. Uro is hopeful it is just the effects of the BCG maintenance I had before Christmas. Has scheduled another Cystoscopy and bladder biopsy for 7 March so I will cross my fingers until then. This is something I hadn't expected and don't need right now as I am going through a bit of sh*t with my employer at the moment. It's all a bit stressful but I am trying to remai [...]

I was diagnosed with Papillary Carcinoma (G1pTa) in June of Last year.

I have undergone a TURBT at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. A 1 cm tumour was removed, and a one off installation of Mitomycin-C was given. As I was catheterised, I spent 1 night in hospital, and was released the next morning. I then spent a long, long week awaiting my pathology results. My consultant being a very cautious man sent me for an IVU. Fortunately that showed no involvement with my kidneys or [...]

Everything was A #1, completely clear! Thanks to everyone for all the support since I first reported seeing blood in my urine on August 20th, I appreciate it very much. I was fairly sure it was going to be from a UTI (the blood), but you all know there's always the possibility it could be a recurrence.
I'm breathing much easier again...

Lou

Latest Update

This is the review of my pathology from the cystoscopy and biopsies taken on 14 July:

The slides have been reviewed in conjunction with Dr R Cohen. he agrees that the urothelium shows atypia which is focally full thickness with scattered mitotic activity. There is not the typical marked nuclear enlargement and hyperchromasia usually associated with carcinoma in-situ, however, the features in the current biopsy represent at least low grade dysplasia and follow [...]

(continued)

So now it has been time to try to get a grip on the nature of my peculiar visitation of the disease. It presents a bit of a quandary. If it had been TaG1, no dilemma: keep the bladder, pursue a disciplined maintenance program, and outlive the disease. If it had been a T2G3, say, also no dilemma: the result, probably sooner rather than later, is going to be a bladder removal and reconstruction in order to defeat the cancer before it can progress beyond the bladder and becom [...]

I am newly diagnosed with Bladder CA albeit low grade although I don't know much about the grading. I have learned heaps already by reading tales from the trenches and lots of background info on this site. I had bowel CA 10 years ago which was cured by surgery and chemo with no recurrences to date (touch wood). I have a gene mutation which predisposes me to bowel CA so hoping this does not reoccur. Every year I have a whole series of tests to make sure any recurrence is detected early and treate [...]

Hi My name is Todd and I am 43 years old. I was Diagnosed with Bladder Cancer December of 2005.
I had a Stage TA Superficial Non Invasive but was a Grade 2. This was removed and I then went through 6 weeks of BCG treatments. I was lucky that I did not have any side affects from the BCG besides a little Burning when urinating after 2 hours.
March 6 I went in for my 1st 3 month check up and the DR found a little growth which he biopsied part of and burned off the rest. &nbs [...]

Preliminary cystoscopy reveals 2 areas of cancer.
Biopsy and scraping coming up on the 25th of May.

I had extreme back pain on left side. My primary physician diagnosed possible kidney stones. I had MRI, IVP and other Xrays. During my stay in the ER, I passed clots of blood. The pain subsided and I was released.
