I am a 53 year old female. Very healthy and very fit. I was diagnosed with upper tract bladder cancer in late March 2007 and had a nephrouterectomy a few weeks later in mid-April 2007. The kidney mass was 6 cm, Grade III, with some spread into the adjacent uterter. I was "all-clear" until my one year check-up, when "spots" were discovered in my bladder. Since then I have had an office visit procedure at 15 months with a cysto/fulgration/electrocautery [...]

Hello all -- My husband and I went to see my medical oncologist today.
As I gathered from reading the CT scan report, there appears to be many
lesions in my liver and nodules in my lungs. One of each are pathologcial
size. Due to some issues with comparability with past imaging, it is hard
to see if my disease is basically stable or progressing. The Dr. said
that it is quite a bit of disease, though, and concurred with my going
for a consultation over at M.D. An [...]

Hi All,
Thought I would update you all on the latest news on my Dad. On Monday he went in to have cysto, biopsy & what ever else they were planning on doing, after the op they called mum into the recovery to tell her that it was invasive & had spread to the muscle & they will wait on path results, but in his experiance if it is indeed what he thinks, dad will have to have his bladder removed. The cancer in the urita is low down towards the bladder, so I am not sure what will hap [...]

Hi All,
I am new to this forum, my father was first diagnosed some 15 years ago with bladder cancer, he had had some symptoms 19 months previous to this diagnosis & had tests done, doc said things were fine, when he seen a different doc (for work check up) 18 months later & mentioned that he had had the symptoms 18 months previous, his new doc asked did he see a specailist? He said NO. So new doc sent him of to specialist. The specialist viewed the scans taken 19 months previously & [...]

I was diagnosed with Papillary Carcinoma (G1pTa) in June of Last year.

I have undergone a TURBT at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. A 1 cm tumour was removed, and a one off installation of Mitomycin-C was given. As I was catheterised, I spent 1 night in hospital, and was released the next morning. I then spent a long, long week awaiting my pathology results. My consultant being a very cautious man sent me for an IVU. Fortunately that showed no involvement with my kidneys or [...]

(26 July 2006 continued)

He also asked me if I had felt any pain recently on my right side. This, because he couldn't see the orifice for the right ureter. He called in another doctor for his opinion, and he also asked me about the pain on my right side. I haven't had any, so they suspect the path of the urine from the kidney is not obstructed, but the view of the ureter orifice is obscured by something, perhaps related to healing from the 2nd TUR. This second doctor also concurred t [...]

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the good wishes. I actually wound up in the hospital today. Woke up w/persistent pain in the lower abdomen. Felt nauseous a few times, and finally got sick after about 3 hours. By this time, I figured I had gotten food poisoning from eating out last night, but decided to go in anyway to make sure there was nothing connected with the BC and nothing that would complicate tomorrow's scheduled TUR.

Diagnosis was food poisoning, but no diarrhea, so, accordin [...]

i don't think they can do anything about the reflux... i'm guessin they're doin all they can at the moment. as i said, their main concern is my overall kidney function, which at present is, although not 100%, quite good. Do u get renal colic at all? i had 2 huuuge stones when i was 12, surgically removed but now I seem to get pain every 3 or 4 mnths (which i'm self-diagnosing as renal colic, admittedly) but don't mention it to the dr's as i'm not sure they'd be able to do anything anyway.
hi again,
my dr's are actually really good. especially my nephrologist. my urologists seem to be of the opinion that until i get cancer or my kidneys pack up, they'll stick with the usm. my kidney doc has recently said i'll prob need a transplant at some point in the next 20 yrs - long time off, but i'd still only be in my 40's by then. if that happened, i don't think they'd give me another usm cos the exact same thing cld happen again to the new kidney.
ur so lucky to have so few com [...]

Hi to everyone in the forum, this is my first post but hopefully will become a diary of my journey through the diagnostic procedures which at the moment point towards my problems maybe being cancer related.

I'm a 28 year old male from England, I already have a pacemaker for heart problems so I am very used to hospitals and diagnostic procedure, that being said I still find myself being scared.

I went to see my doctor a few months back with chronic UTI, after a number of ant [...]

Hello
I was just wondering if there is anyone out there in the same position as me... I had a complete cystectomy aged 6 months and had USM done, then redone when I was 3 yrs old. I had chemotherapy but not radiotherapy.
I have never had a problem with malignancies and am about 90% continent. I have had a partial nephrectomy though (aged 12), kidney stones, and have lost count of the number of UTI's I've had. Usually hospitalised annually due to pylenophritis but overall kidney functio [...]
