Hi Roy
I hadn't checked back here in a while either actually - been in hospital for 2 wks, been out 2 wks now and much better - all those aches and pains I mentioned before got too much and I was in agony. thank God for morphine!!! Anyway, the docs have now said that they think all these pains are due to adhesions. my mum has since told me i had them before when i was 2 1/2 and they were surgically removed... anyway, am on tramadol pretty much constantly now. good thing was i got a full mot. i had a virtual colonoscopy - they're the new ct version of a colonoscopy, far less invasive!
anyway, am

Thought I'd clarify the reference to a "hood" that I made in my post about my first BCG installation on 14 August. I mentioned that the pharmacy had to prepare the medicine in the urology department because they didn't have the hood, and for some reason I had been left with the impression that the lack of a hood was preventing me from going to the pharmacy, picking up the BCG, and bringing it back up to the department myself, which is the usual procedure; I suspected it was some sort of cover or container for the mixture. As it turns out, the BCG, once mixed, is put in a regular glass

I'm sure it's possible that it's just an ovarian cyst...I've never had one to my knowledge, but understand they are relatively common and generally nothing to worry much over.  I trust my doctor and know he's very proactive, so if he was concerned, I know he would have ordered more tests.  I have a visit with him on Friday and will ask more questions about it so I can understand a bit better and ask a few more questions.

Regarding the removal of my ovary - my surgeon indicated that it is standard to remove the uterus, the ovaries, some pelvic lymph nodes and top portion of the vaginal wall

Thank you all for your kind responses.

I wanted to update a bit on my story - yesterday I had to have an ultrasound of my leg due to a painful lump that has formed on my calf.  I have also been having some intense abdominal pain and swelling in my lower right quadrant.  So, this morning, I had an abdominal/pelvic CT scan.  The ultrasound did not indicate any cause for concern (i.e. blood clots, masses, etc.) and I am hoping to know the results of the CT scan by the end of the day today.

I had a bit of a meltdown during and after the CT.   I have prided myself so much on being strong, but I

Hi everyone-

Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share my story.  I've been reluctant to post my story because I felt I could handle this on my own and just read other posts to help me cope.  I'm finding that I need more support though as I face the reality and magnitude of all of this.

I am a 32 year old, happily married mother of two boys ages 1 and 4.  I was diagnosed with bladder cancer on April 19 of this year.  I had my first TURB the following day.  Initially, my urologist thought I would be a candidate for BCG treatments, however when the pathology came back and it was

Urethra placement

Greetings,

November 1, 1994 I became cancer free with the cut and cure method. And today I have a neobladder I have to cath. So many stories could be told by me as to how I survived the trying times, however I'm here with a problem that has come up in the last three or four years having to do with cathing. My fear of reoccurring cancer has abated.

My surgeon placed my urethra behind my pubic bone, and now it seems he would like to bring it forward. I'm presently having a difficult time weaving the cath. to get behind the bone about once a month. And, up until three or four years ago I had no

Hello Judy,

My apologies; I thought the system would send email update notifications to us when someone modified a post, as well as when someone put a new one up. I've been modifying previous posts with the information directly related to the treatment, rather than putting a new post up each time. I guess that's why a notification didn't go out. I do the modifications up to the 8000 word limit. I just figured it would keep the journal more concentrated and easier to find the treatment related material as opposed to the conversational material. I should have put some filler posts in at the very

I was then taken to a room with its own separate toilet/dressing room. I was asked to void again, disrobe to my socks and don the fashionable hospital gown, and then to take my place on the examination table.

I was laying there with my hands behind my head. The nurse told me to fold them on my stomach; it makes it easier and more comfortable to emplace the catheter. She told me I would be feeling something cold as she sprayed disenfectant at the entrance to the urethra. She then told me to open my mouth and breath in while she inserted the catheter. I was surprised at how that

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Great news. I just saw my Uro this morning and he was very happy with the path reports following biopsies in July. He said no immediate treatment is required and to come back for a follow up P & P in 3 months. What a relief.  8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

AUGUST 2, 2006

Wanted to let everyone (or anyone?? reading this) that I completed about 12 sessions of chemotherapy the end of April 2006 - I was scheduled for bladder and prostate removal on June 26, 2006. But I was told by the surgeon that he would do the removal ONLY IF he saw an improvement - if things looked the same he would not go forward with the removal; if the cancer had actually spread, he of course would not go forward with the removal and radiation and more chemo would be scheduled.

I am happy to say I had the best outcome so far - there were lots of dead lymph nodes from the chemo
