43 Diagnosed with a TA Grade 2

Posted by: Todd in mens issues on

5/15/2007 Went in for my 3 to 4 month Cysto.  Doc said that he found a small Papilloma.  Told me it was small and he burned it off.  I asked if he took a Biopsy and he said that there really wasn't a need.  He said it was obvious what it was.  I asked if he meant Benign and he said yup. He also said that we will continue with the 3 month check ups.  I always found it kind of crazy that after the Cysto I am still pretty much out of it when the Dr tells me what he finds, be it good or bad.  I always seem to forget half of what he says.  I will be making a 2 week post op appointment to check

My Story

My what challenges life throws at us from time to time. Whilst I received a short interlude in my treatment for BC with another cystocope due in June another ailment befell me. As a result I recently underwent a spinal fusion and am now filled with all sorts of hardware to hold me together....lol. Whilst this was and still is a painful exercise at least it took my mind off the BC and my in remission colon CA for a while. Gotta stay focused and cheery, although that is hard coming into winter in Western Australia. On the bright side I am now retired and as soon as I can I will be tackling that

I got my initial path reports today from 2006, initial diagnosis.

This is what I would have to describe as "pathology whiplash".

That is where you go from Point A to Point Z too quickly for your body and mind to catch up with you.

As an epilogue to these pathologies, when I went for muscle biopsy at UNC in May 2006, my cancer was "POOF"  GONE.  I began BCG treatments in June 2006.  No recurrances.

When I was at Chapel Hill in May for biopsy, I was told that there were two muscle biopsies performed by my Doctor that day for T1 G3 bladder cancer.  The other guy wasn't as "lucky".  He

IVE BEEN SKIING
We have had a fantastic time I honestly couldnt believe how great and how well I felt.Promising myself this holiday was the thing that kept me focused when things were not so great.
I wasnt The Herminator or anything but skied every morning with my long suffering husband then had lunch before taking my little boy back to the hotel where we both had a nap. Most days we went back out to have the last few runs with Steve and the girls or play in the snow we even went toboganning. We went to Lech in Austria which was just perfect. The snow was lovely and the resort picture postcard

Well its March 2007 and I just got back from the hospital. Bladder clear as a bell! I was a bit worried about some discomfort after urinating which had been present for about 1 month, but investigation didn't show any new problems, possible cause could be scarring or remaining muscle damage from radiotherapy.

Next check is scheduled for 6 months and then out to a year if no recurrence.

I wish you all as much good luck as I have had with my treatment.

:-[ A little anxious again this way. I had a Cystoscopy yesterday and even I could see the inflamation that was on the bladder wall. Uro is hopeful it is just the effects of the BCG maintenance I had before Christmas. Has scheduled another Cystoscopy and bladder biopsy for 7 March so I will cross my fingers until then. This is something I hadn't expected and don't need right now as I am going through a bit of sh*t with my employer at the moment. It's all a bit stressful but I am trying to remain calm and positive.

Just had the best day

Hi
Just to show things can be normal I have just had a fantastic day.
Its snowed like mad here and the children were all off school.I was supposed to go to a Spa that specialises in treatments and therapies for cancer patients and had to cancel due to the weather I had been looking forward to it so was disappointed.
I am so glad I did instead of a day centering on me and this disease I 've had a ball.We got the sledges out and took them to the field over the lane which has a good slope on it.I spent all morning whizzing up and down the field with the children my friend came out with her

Well we are doing Ok
We have all had awful colds and I nearly ended up in hospital with a chest infection but things are slowly getting better.
Weight continues to be an issue and I must try to put some on,other issues are tiredness and loss of feeling in my fingers and feet.Typing takes forever hence very short messages.I have had a few crisis lately one caused by friends and family having babies I would have so loved another child and feel so sad that the option has been taken away from me. I had a truely awful leak issue yesterday we went shopping and I must have caught my bag leaning over
Hi,
My sister had the same diagnosis as you and she is now 8 yrs down the road and doing well. She had two recurs the first year but clean ever since.

I have confidence that you will fall on the good side of the stats and stay well. The last I read the risk of recurrence was 38%, the risk of progression around 3% and the risk of death from is about 1%. Those are very good odds in cancer-land, where all things are relative.

Your life will never be quite the same, no matter how good the prognosis. Life long follow up is still necessary, but there is discussion of extending the follow up to
