I found out I had grade 4, stage 3 bladder cancer 6 weeks ago. All the urologists wanted to remove the bladder, prostrate, etc. I am a fairly young man (58), and I was not content with that path of treatment. Something in my gut gold me there must be a better way. I got a second opinion from one of the leading universities (UCSF). This was not easy because the insurance company didn’t really want to pay for it. I found out that the new trend, if at all possible, is to preserve the organ, though only the oncologist are the ones who seem to truly believe in this.

Hi to everyone in the forum, this is my first post but hopefully will become a diary of my journey through the diagnostic procedures which at the moment point towards my problems maybe being cancer related.

I'm a 28 year old male from England, I already have a pacemaker for heart problems so I am very used to hospitals and diagnostic procedure, that being said I still find myself being scared.

I found this web forum which I think its a great place where to share our concerns about bladder cancer. We are both argentines, living in Argentina. My husband, Carlos, now 57, was diagnosed with bc five years ago, very low grade and superficial (excuse my english). After many recurances and resecctions we are still fighting this battle. I could use some help.
7 months sice my ccccysectomy for aggressive bladder cancer.
I am 66 years young and a active woman.

I have two problems -one reoccuring bladder infections, 3 in 8 months.
and a small showing of blood has shown up in my urine.

My Doctor say this is not unusual after this big surgery but It worries me.
Abyone who can help me with these problens would be gratefuuly appreciated.
I have a outside ouch and doing well with it.

I returned to my Uro on 8 June for the results of the biopsies I had taken in mid May and I have to say the pathology report and the Uro interpretation has confused me even further. They both say the pathology is inconclusive and I have to have more biopsies taken under GA in about 6 weeks then more pathology. So the wait continues but I have learned you have to be patient with this beast. I had thought about getting a second opinion at this stage but I do have a good rapport and I trust my current Uro in whom I have the utmost faith. I have just undergone a major procedure which resulted in mysecond bladder reconstruction,i wasdiagnosed with bladder cancer in decemer at Bradford BRIwest Yorkshire ,the most amazing place to be treated  - I tell you.

The orginal bladder reconsrutction occurred in 1999after my stoma after 32years of service simply failed .

Iam only38 now.

Have now started taking Selinium 26mcg per day as I have been told this might have some CA preventative qualities see http://dietary-supplements.info.nih.gov/factsheets/selenium.asp.

I tried to get some advice on this product through here but nobody has replied so far.

Waiting patiently for my biopsy results which I get on 8 June. Fingers crossed for an all clear. Feeling really well although still have some urgency to pee from time to time as a result of the BCG I had February through

I am newly diagnosed with Bladder CA albeit low grade although I don't know much about the grading. I have learned heaps already by reading tales from the trenches and lots of background info on this site. I had bowel CA 10 years ago which was cured by surgery and chemo with no recurrences to date (touch wood). I have a gene mutation which predisposes me to bowel CA so hoping this does not reoccur. Every year I have a whole series of tests to make sure any recurrence is detected early and treated.

Hi My name is Todd and I am 43 years old.  I was Diagnosed with Bladder Cancer December of 2005.
I had a Stage TA Superficial Non Invasive but was a Grade 2.  This was removed and I then went through 6 weeks of BCG treatments. I was lucky that I did not have any side affects from the BCG besides a little Burning when urinating after 2 hours.
March 6 I went in for my 1st 3 month check up and the DR found a little growth which he biopsied part of and burned off the rest.  The Pathology report came back and it was benign not cancer.  
So that is good, but I am still trying to get used to the
