It is now the end of March 2006 and I have been getting my chemo (gemzar and cisplatin) treatment since the beginning of February. The oncologist would like 16 sessions of chemo; however, my blood count - both white and red and now platelets - has caused postponement on at least 2 occasions. My oncologist gave me neupagen which worked very well to stimulate cell growth. But my platelets are very low - 35 but doubled to almost 70 last week which pleased the oncologist.

Hopefully, tomorrow, Wednesday, my blood count will be okay to have a 3 hour chemo session of the 2 drugs.

Have not had much

[quote]My husband was diagnosed in Feburary after having found a large amount of blood in his urine.  He went to the emergency room in our small town.  They didn't even examine him, just took a urine sample and said it was a urinary tract infection.  Went to the urologist the following Tue. Had a CT scan.  He has had a cyctoscopy and was at T2, grade 3 according to pathology report.  Doctor wanted him to have a partial cyctectomy.  Had this done March 10.  Went back on March 20 to get catheder out.  Doctor told him cancer is now thru the bladder.  Staged at T3, grade 3.  Told him he didn't

I realize this doesn't relate to bladder cancer, but it is about cancer.  I learned as many of you have by now also, that Dana Reeve wife of the late Christopher Reeve (Superman) has died from Lung Cancer at the age of 44.  She leaves a thirteen year old son, and his pain must be hard for most of us to understand.
On Good Morning America this morning they showed an interview Diane Sawyer had with Dana in November 2005, and during that interview she explained how her son hadn't only just  lost his Father, but also her Mother, and she told how difficult it was to then have to tell him that she

My story:  I am a 67-year-old male living in Canada.  Approx. 5 or 6 years ago I started passing blood in my urine after strenuous exercise in hot weather while on vacation in Palm Springs.  The blood went away after a couple of days.  On my return home I reported this incident to my Doctor.  He said it is probably Hematuria, which can occur from exercising in hot weather.  The next year, same thing, blood for a couple of days while playing tennis in hot weather. Reported to Doctor again. The next year, the same thing!
(I know now that I should

I've had four follow-up CT scans and so far all is clear. Although my first follow-up in August 2004 had me holding my breath for the next three months, as I had a newly enlarged lymph node on that scan. Dr. El-Galley (my surgeon) told me it very well could be enlarged because of the surgery alone, but if there was an increase in size on the next scan three months from then we'd do a biopsy. Fortunately there was no increase in size on the CT in November 2004, and my next follow-up would be six months down the road. In my initial write up I mentioned my being

Can you use our forum?

As far as I know I never received an email from this site that contained my original story, the link I use is in my Favorites category on my Internet Explorer.  It just started taking me to the new site, I've seen nothing else.  The information that's available on the new site doesn't explain much of anything, at least nothing about the things I mentioned in my previous

I'm wondering where the old storyboard is, my last update to my story (30 November) is half gone, and it shows a limit of 8000 characters and I apparently have used them up.  What goes here, what happened to updating our stories.  I'm not so sure I want to remain a part of something that takes away such a valuable tool as the ability to communicate with many by just updating your story.  I've been contacted through my story by numerous persons, and I'm sure if you asked them they'd tell you my sharing my further experiences (ones not on the storyboard) have made their dealing with bladder

What this board is for

Posted by: wendy in mens issues on

The Storyboard is a place for folks to post their ongoing battles and update their stories, more like bios. If you want to reply to someone's story that's perfectly ok, but please don't start a new topic in this folder unless you want to post your own bio.

Be aware that some 30% of the authors don't know about the fact their stories have been moved to this new format so not everyone will respond.

For newcomers who have questions or comments regarding anything at all, the idea is to post under the related category/folder. Hopefully it will attract the answers you need from people with similar
