So, we know this cancer can be highly-survivable in most instances if it's detected early enough and quality treatment is followed.  The problem is many folks don't even know it exists.  Many folks ignore or don't get the symptoms checked out.  Some balk at the treatment options.  I don't think this is any less deadly and the statistics speak for themselves.

So, why is there not a Bladder Cancer Week or Bladder cancer Awareness week...?  I've looked and can't find anything.

Let me know

Differnt doc, same practice.  My Dr is on vacation this week with his family so a partner of his did it.  It was clear that though he is familar with the procedure, he isn't as fluid or practiced in it.  To be blunt....he asked if I wanted the gel and then had the end of the catheter up against the wall of my bladder so the solution didn't go in.  The fix....push more catheter in.  I felt it scraping up against the wall.  A return to bleeding followed.  Yippie.  It's over and that's what I wanted.  One more to go.

Affects...?  It falls somewhere between my #2 and #3 weeks.  Cramping, some REAL

Treatment #4 went ok last week. The doctor says they will get worse but I really have not had real problems. Usually the day after I am sore in the abdomen and get worn out by days end. the next day is better. I get a case of the chills one or two evenings after each teatment. I grab a quilt or blanket to wrap up in for a while until I get warmed up. Other than that...no big problems. Treatment #5...bring it on.

I met with the Nephrologist last week before I went for the BCG treatment. He says it looks like I have Stage II kidney failure most likely from the diabetes. Even though my diabetes

So, last week (that'd be #3) sucked big time.  So I expected the same or worse this week.

Nope.  Catheter was about like week #2 and side effects are (so far) on par with that week as well.  No blood.  Haven't passed much of anything (some light tissue) in over a week.

My urologist will be off next week for a much-needed vacation with his family (spring break) so a partner of his will take care of this for me next week.  I plan to ask a BUNCH of questions.

I have no explanation as to why last week was brutal and this week has been almost nothing.

I AM tired.  My bladder is having some cramps,

Family sent me this the other day and thought I would share.  Didn't know if this research had hit the mainstream or not.  Hope it gets done before the messiah gets healthcare managed by the government and all research and treatment will be subject to some politician and/or committee to decide who does or does not qualify.  Socialized medicine doesn't work.   If she'd lived, you could ask Ms. Richardson what she thinks of

I had treatment number three yesterday. After holding my water for two plus hours, I voided and for the first time noticed some blood. There was a bit of blood each time I went until this morning.

I went to work and had my doubts about staying all day. I felt like Chuck Norris had kicked me repeatedly in the abdomen.  I was unable to bend or lift anything without a lot of grunting and heavy breathing. I took some buffered aspirin and it may have helped some. By noon I was pretty tired but I knew I could make it the rest of the day. I had a nice ride home on the Harley and I am now very glad to

Second BCG Down

Posted by: archerev in side effectskidneybladder cancerBCG on

I had my second BCG treatment this past Wednesday. The doctor said the chills I experienced a couple different times were most likely due to the BCG. I have not had any chills this time but some very slight nauseau. Who knows why? I am still very tired and get winded with the least exertion. I am sure this is from the anemia. I saw a nephrologist last monday. He believes my kidney damage is more like stage I or maybe stage II. I am to have some additional labs doen for him on Monday this week. and perhaps he can give me something that will fortify my blood. I really am tired of being

First BCG Today

Posted by: archerev in side effectsbladder cancerBCG on

I did have the first BCG Treatment today. It went okay. I had forgotten how much fun it is to have a catheter inserted. My bladder is just starting to feel a little sore. As though I had been punched in the gut. I will be back to work tomorrow. I hope there are no ill effects on the job.

Hello everyone - My mom who's 48 yrs. old was diagnosed with Urinary Bladder Cancer last Friday. We found out that the tumors have invaded the bladder wall and was told by our urologist that my mom's bladder will have to be removed. Since then she has been referred by our Urologist to another Urologist in UCLA who specializes in performing Neobladder surgery. After speaking with this specialist, my mother was give 2 options: 1) to perform chemo and radiation therapy, since the tumors were all contained in the bladder, and try to shrink the tumors to a size where it's possible to be removed.

I'm not sure if there is the proper place to post this, but here goes.

My husband had his first session of chemotherapy yesterday 9-13-07. Cisplatin and Gemzar. Other than the long day, everything went fine. So far, the only side effect we know of is burping. Nothing excessive, just a little. There is no heartburn or nausea associated with it. He does think he is beginning to feel a little tired. I hope to use this thread to document everything. Next Thursday will be a short day with just Gemzar. He has Emend (3 days following chemo), Zofran (4 or more days following chemo), Dexamethasone (I
