Transitional Cell Carcinoma. Delay in diagnosis,

Transitional Cell Carcinoma. Delay in diagnosis, more than 10 tumors. High grade, but had not penetrated the muscle wall.

I am a survivor of childhood cancer. I had neuroblastoma in 1967. I had surgery, chemo and radiation.

In 1995, I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Because the diagnosis was delayed, we immediately went to the radical cystectomy. I had doctors turning me away, so when a wonderful doctor suggested the Indiana Pouch I accepted it without research or hesitation.

It was a wonderful choice for me. I have had very few problems, it is very continent, and really did not slow me down in the least.

In July of 2001, they found another tumor. In a routine scope, they found bladder cancer growing inside the pouch. One small tumor the size of a dime. This was SO unexpected. So.... this time we followed up with a round of chemo. I went once a week for twelve weeks and received a combination of taxol and carboplatin. I finished up the chemo in early December. Still cancer free, but tired from the chemo.
