Pat,

Do you know your stage and grade?  Are you for some reason really worried about metastasis?

If you can let us know your stage and grade, then we might be able to help you to know if your doctor is being as precautious as we hope he would be.

Your BC friend,
Rosemary

ROSEMARY,  I THINK THE DOCTOR SAID IT WAS CARCINOMA IN SITU, EITHER STAGE TIS OR T-1 AND GRADE C-2                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 FRIENDS PAT

Pat,

I'm probably not going to be a big help here, because I do not have CIS.  I did go to the Web Cafe home page and found the information about CIS to be very informative.  I will post the link at the end of my post, so that you won't have to go hunting.

It is my understanding the BCG is the appropriate treatment for CIS, but I am in no way an expert.  You might consider sending an E Mail to Dr. Don Lamm who is an expert in BCG treatments for superficial Bladder Cancer and has devised particular protocols of treatment.  When I have had a question about BCG treatment, Dr. Lamm has very kindly responded to my E Mails.  I think it would be helpful, though, if you decide to E Mail him, to have specific information for him to evaluate (ie stage and grade and the inflammation issues)

Here is Web Cafe info:   [ftp]http://blcwebcafe.org/superficialblca.asp[/ftp]

Here is Dr. Lamms site where you can E Mail him...

Wishing you well,

Hello Pat

I have had CIS of the bladder since September 2005 and have had 2 rounds of BCG with minimal side effects. I did get some minor inflamation of the bladder wall after the second round of 3 treatments but nothing to speak of, although it was enough to encourage my Urologist to do a further biopsy. Have you thought about a second opinion. From your posts you seem to be frightened/worried and I would say you need some reassuring about your condition and the various treatments available. Why don't you discuss this with your Uro or at the very least your GP.

Good luck
