so far, so good

Well its March 2007 and I just got back from the hospital. Bladder clear as a bell! I was a bit worried about some discomfort after urinating which had been present for about 1 month, but investigation didn't show any new problems, possible cause could be scarring or remaining muscle damage from radiotherapy.

Next check is scheduled for 6 months and then out to a year if no recurrence.

I wish you all as much good luck as I have had with my treatment.

Wow,  David, what a story!  You have really jumped some hurdles.  Congratulations on the good news and thanks very much for sharing with us.

You said: Review with Velindre Hospital in the UK seemd to indicate that although the statistics were limited, there was not a significant difference in survival for surgical versus none surgical treatments. Given that information, I chose the radiotherapy/chemotherapy route and so far, I am pleased with that choice.

David, I am glad to see your choice of radiotherapy/chemotherapy vs surgery has proven good for you.  It seems so many on this website are choosing surgery -  TURB/or cystectomy -  rather than non surgical intervention.  After much research on the subject and stats, I am going to go the laser route rather than TURB for the removal of my 4th low grade recurrence.  I wonder if there are others on this forum who have successfully gone other routes rather than the typical TURB or cystectomy with long term good results.  OTHERS please let us know.

Nice story David. I do hope things are still progressing well for you. I can't believe how many TURBS you have been through. You must have an extraordinarily strong constitution.

All the best

Jeff
