James was a valued member of our support group during his illness. He was a brave and inspiring person, always willing to share his hard earned wisdom with others. He will be greatly missed.

James loved life for 50 years and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a long battle with cancer. He loved his wife of 27 years, Sandy, with his whole heart, and adored his children: Adria (Knoxville), Nathan and his wife Amy (Louisville, KY), Rachel and her husband Ben Lynch (Knoxville), and Amanda (Knoxville). James dearly loved his brother, sisters and their spouses: Teresa and James Brown, Genevie Goldston, Harold Jr. and Betty Goldston, Martha and Rich Schaale, Becky Bruer, and Carole and Patrick Higdon. He also loved his mother, Mary Goldston, his father and his wife, Harold and Jeanette Goldston, and his special uncle Theron and Aunt Lilla Goldston. He enjoyed great big get-togethers with his extended family, but especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

In 1997, James took his love for computer security and founded Sword & Shield Enterprise Security, Inc. He served 23 years in the US Air Force. James loved to live life fast and to the fullest. He enjoyed motorcycling with his buddies, driving his sports car, rappelling down mountain cliffs, scuba diving, mountain biking, 4-wheeling, etc. He also had a great rapport with the elderly and an incredible compassion for the terminally ill (ironically, long before he knew of his own condition).

James loved animals and children and loved to dress up as Spiderman for sick kids at Children's Hospital and see their faces light up when he came into their room. Most importantly, James loved his Lord and his life was a complete reflection of this. Music was an important part of James' life and he enjoyed playing guitar in the church orchestra. He also loved serving the Lord through the years in the teen, men's, bus, and missions ministries at West Park Baptist Church. We have so many precious memories. He has touched so many lives. He will be so desperately missed.
