papillary transitional cell carcinoma gradeII
My husband was first diagnosed without any symptoms from an x-ray of his kidneys. It was fortunate to have been caught before any muscle involvement. A papillary transitional cell carcinoma grade II was removed and he followed up with 3 month cystos which remained clear until 10/11/1999.
on 10/11/1999 and A- bladder tumor was removed and he went on with his 3 month cystos until
1/9/2001 when a urothelial carcinoma was removed. Again 3 month cystos until
2/28/2002 removal of a papillary urothelial carcinoma was removed. (Have no idea of the medical terminology have copied from the lab reports.) At this point his urologist recommended BCG treatments to discourage more tumors. At this point he has had 15 treatments 6 weekly from 3-5-2002 to 4-9-2002 then 3 after 3 months and is now scheduled 3 every 6 months until he has had 21 treatments.
He tolerated the beginning treatments fairly well. Felt like he had the flu for a few days with chills and fever and was bothered with burning and frequent urination but it got better in a few days but after the last treatment on 5/20/03 he is still having frequent urination problems that interfere with his sleep and quality of life.
Since he is scheduled for more BCG treatments in November 2003 and his regular cisto on June 20, 2003 would any of you have recommendations? His urologist seems to know but is not the most talkative individual. Should we seek a second opinion? Any input would be appreciated.
