bladder cancer
had a small tumor removed in Nov. 03, followed with BCG treatment; 3 months after that 2nd tumor appeared; same removel and treatment. First was Grade 1; second was Grade 2. Then in April of 04 a 3rd was removed–grade 3, but no treatment. Dr. wanted to wait 3 months to see if it reappeared then would remove it and treat with BCG again. Sought second opinion at U. of Chicago and one week later was in possession of a neobladder. Contrary to what the first Dr. thought, the tumor was into the muscle of the bladder, but not into the fatty tissues around it. My bladder was removed the end of June and a neobladder made, but I have had bouts with scar tissue blocking the urethra so that I have to have a catheter. When the tubing was all removed 3 wks. after the surgery, everything seemed to work fine and a stream seemed a simple thing. Not so!!! This is my 3rd time with cutting away the scar tissue and a catheter and I really haven’t been able to urinate a stream since the surgery in June. Never thought I would be so happy to pee. I am wondering if other people have had this problem and how long I can expect to continue like this. To top this off, I am into my third week of chemotherapy and doing all right with that so far.
