STAGE 4 SCC OF BLADDER
My father-in-law, Bob , has stage 4 Squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder.
that has spread to his pelvic area like a spider web. A removal of bladder was attempted last year in Feb 2003. Due to the spreading web like condition the doctors decided to let it go. During the year we were all suprised that his chemo treatments every other week gave no side effects. Bob was living a semi-normal life.
In january of 2004 the Docotrs went in again to remove his bladder because chemo was going so well and cancer was not found in cat scans. But once again the cancer was the same, and in fear of bleeding out, no removal was done.
Since then , Bob , has been staying with our family (my wife and 2 sons). He never seemed to recover well. He has lost weight. Does not want to eat. All food tastes bad to him. Has a real bad taste in his mouth. He has no energy and has been spending a lot of time on the couch watching T.V.. He never says anything about his condition or how he feels. Just always saying “I’m fine”. Even though doctors say nothing , we are at grips that the cancer is causing his symptoms. He has has 3 blood transfusions. My wife and I are wondering what his next symtons are going to be and what we can expect. We know he is not going to be with us for too much longer. Not sure if another year or just months away. It would be nice if anyone can give us any feedback on what we can expect in the coming months. And what symptoms are next.
